Experienced rocker Avril Lavigne showed no signs of jet-lag on Sunday as she arrived in the UK for an intimate gig in the capital that evening. The 22-year-old singer is well and truly back to work after spending the last six months chilling out with friends and enjoying married life.
In London on the promotional trail for her new hit single Girlfriend she was back on stage again on Monday at live music venue Scala - where she treated her British fans to songs from her upbeat third album, The Best Damn Thing, produced with the help of husband Deryck Whibley.
Performances in Paris and Amsterdam are next up on the schedule for the Malibu-based globe-trotter. And her itinerary is set to hot up further with the start of a world tour early next year. While she clocks up the air miles, her Girlfriend track has an appropriately international flavour.
The Napanee-born songstress recorded the chorus in Mandarin, Japanese, Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. Determined to get the pronunciation just right, the ambitious vocalist spent hours studying the foreign languages with a tutor before hitting the recording studio.
It's not just her air miles she's topping up. It seems her bank balance will also receive a boost in the near future as her Italianate-style Beverly Hills mansion, which boasts five bedrooms, a meditation garden and pool is on the market for a cool $6.9 million.
