Five hundred fashion experts have voiced their opinion on who is the worst-dressed man in Britain – and the lucky "winner" is flamboyant chat show host Graham Norton.

The quirky suits donned by the Dublin-born star helped him snag the top spot in the poll, conducted by men's style magazine GQ. Graham, who ranked number five last year, edged out runner-up Tony Blair and 2002's number one, Jonathan Ross, for the title.

While there were some newcomers to the annual list – Simon Cowell and Guy Ritchie were inducted at number seven and nine, respectively – some celebrities once dubbed sartorially-challenged, including Ewan McGregor and Vinnie Jones, dropped off the roster in 2003.

One man not in danger of landing on GQ's worst-dressed line-up is Manchester United star David Beckham, who was named the most stylish star for the second year in a row. Becks is described by the magazine's editor Dylan Jones as "a genuine class warrior – his only battleground is Bond street".
