"I love Scotland", declared the country's newest 'ambassador', billionaire businessman Donald Trump. The flamboyant tycoon is to join a network of celebrities who'll sell Scotland's image abroad at the request of First Minister Jack McConnell, who called the appointment a "good bit of business for all concerned."
On a three-day visit to promote a £300-million golf course he's building in Aberdeenshire, 59-year-old Donald revealed he does have familial ties to the country - his mother hails from the Isle of Lewis.
When the Trump private jet touched down at Aberdeen airport, the strains of traditional Scots tune Highland Laddie sounded across the tarmac. "I've enjoyed success over the years and I like to think that part of my achievement can be attributed to my Scottish roots," commented the New Yorker.
Back in the Big Apple for Monday's Costume Institute gala, The Donald, as he's affectionately known, wasn't wearing his clan tartan, but still looked equally dashing in black tie, accompanied by wife Melania. Stunning in a floor-length ivory gown, the model barely looked like someone who'd recently had her first child. The couple celebrated the birth of their son Barron five weeks ago.
