Proving that breaking up is never easy to do, Nicole Richie and ex-fiance Adam Goldstein were looking remarkably cosy when they got together over lunch on Monday. The couple, who called off their engagement in December, were spotted holding hands after a rendezvous at Los Angeles' La Scala restaurant.
It's not the first time they've spent time together since calling it quits. Nicole saw in the New Year at a club where her DJ ex was playing a set. Rekindling the romance would certainly please her family, especially dad Lionel, who regarded her beau as a steady, caring influence.
But perhaps the diminutive blonde merely called on Adam for support this week as she started shooting the fourth instalment of The Simple Life with former pal Paris Hilton.
The two socialites hadn't spoken for a year after a well-publicised falling out, but were due to reprise the ditzy, reality show shenanigans that initially propelled them into the limelight.
Producers decided that to save the format the girls could film their scenes separately, acting as "wives" in different households and competing to see who'd make best homemaker material. And after Nicole was seen on set cradling a "bump", viewers will have to wait until the show airs on March 6 to find out exactly what the petite blonde's been getting up to.
