It was one of the most talked-about break-ups of 2006 and now Sian Lloyd and former fiancé Lembit Opik have both revealed their side of the story - and how they are planning for separate futures - in exclusive interviews in the latest issue of HELLO! magazine.
Glamorous weatherwoman Sian admits she is enjoying the single life once again, while her former other half has moved on to date Gabriela Irimia of Cheeky Girl fame. The flame-haired 48-year-old says she feels like she's had a "lucky escape", and has been touched by the hundreds of supportive letters she has received in the wake of their split. Looking back on their six-year relationship, she tells HELLO! that maybe "she wasn't cherished in the way I perhaps should have been".
Feeling optimistic and positive about the future, Sian has many plans for 2007, but those don't include rushing into finding another man. "Absolutely no way am I going to rush into a relationship and do a rebound thing," she declares. Her former partner, however, has been making headlines with his choice of new girlfriend, Gabriela - who admits she had never heard of the MP before.
In his first interview since breaking up with Sian, Lembit sets the record straight about his feelings for Gabi, as he affectionately calls her. "She challenges me intellectually, and she demands respect as a person," he says, adding: "It's primarily a relationship of intellect, a meeting of minds."
Also introducing a new love in the latest issue is Alex Best, former wife of late footballer George. In the exclusive interview she introduces her fiancé Howard Kruger - her partner for the last three years - and talks about how they got through the allegations of abuse that sent Howard to jail.
"If you love someone, you stick by them through thick and thin," says Alex who was overjoyed when her beau, a businessman father-of-three, proposed on New Year's Eve. Showing off her 2.5 carat diamond engagement ring in a set of intimate photographs of the happy couple, Alex reveals her priority is to start a family.
