Russell Brand and Katy Perry are engaged to be married, according to multiple reports in the US. English comedian Russell, 34, is said to have popped the question to his pop star love five days ago while the couple holidayed in Jaipur, India. And the 25-year-old singer happily said yes, a source has told USmagazine.com.
Since they began their whirlwind romance just four months ago, the couple have made a number of grand public gestures of love - last year Katy paid tribute to her man in a West Ham United lingerie outfit emblazoned with his nickname ‘Rusty’.
And there had been speculation that a proposal was imminent after the Forgetting Sarah Marshall star was spotted in Cartier’s London flagship store shopping for a square-cut diamond engagement ring set in a platinum band.
Romantic Russell then whisked his love away for a Christmas break in India, from where Katy has been keeping fans up-to-date with a number of pictures from the holiday posted on her Twitter page.
One photo shows the blissfully happy couple standing in front of the Taj Mahal, with the words “He built this for me” written underneath.
The decision to treat the I Kissed A Girl songstress to a surprise holiday for Christmas is thought to have come to Russell after Katy told him how much she loved Indian culture as the pair were eating curry in England.
An insider told the website that Katy, who has introduced Russell to her devout Christian parents, has “never connected with anyone like this” and that, for his part, the actor is “super into her.”
“She says he makes her laugh like nobody else in the world,” the insider added.
