Hollywood actress Nicole Kidman has spoken for the first time about her baby daughter Faith Margaret. The 43-year-old said that she and her husband Keith Urban decided to keep the new arrival secret to protect everyone involved in the surrogacy process.
"I wanted to be able to tell everybody because I was so excited about her," she said. "[But] we just decided this was our thing together. It kind of just perpetuated itself. "[And] it protects her and it protects everyone in the situation." Nicole made the comments to an E! presenter on the red carpet at the SAG awards, where she was up for best actress for her role in Rabbit Hole. The flame haired beauty – gorgeous in a Nina Ricci black crepe dress with sexy back lace panel - was pipped to the post by Black Swan star Natalie Portman. But she was up on stage to present the best actor gong to Colin Firth, for his portrayal of the stammering George VI in The King's Speech.
Earlier this month, Nicole and Keith released a statement to confirm they had become second time parents with the help of an unidentified surrogate mother. The couple had kept baby Faith Margaret a secret since she was born in Nashville on December 28 – just three days after Elton John and David Furnish's son made his entrance, also via a surrogate. "We needed lots of Faith," said - explaining the choice of name. Margaret was chosen as a tribute to her grandmother, who welcomed her last child aged 49. "As an older mother I wanted to pay tribute to her," she explained. Nicole is also mum to two-year-old Sunday Rose with Keith as well as adopted teenage children Isabella and Conor, from her marriage to Tom Cruise.
