New dad Javier Bardem has spoken for the first time about his baby son with Penelope Cruz. The Spanish power couple welcomed their new arrival last month in LA. Best actor Oscar nominee appeared on US The Tonight Show and told host Jay Leno: "Everything's going great."
Mystery still surrounds the name of the child, which hasn't yet been publicly released by the couple famous for protecting their private lives. However, Spanish director and family friend Santiago Segura may have accidentally spilled the beans. He told a group of reporters: "I know what you want and you don't understand why they don't come running to show off the baby and say, ‘Look, here’s Leo.'" Realizing his error, he continued, "Yeah, Leo. I think so. That’s what I think I heard. But they haven’t said anything." Other sources have suggested 'Miguel Silvio', which may hold significance for the couple. Miguel runs in the family and is the name of Javier's cousin, a film writer and director. Silvio is not a common name in Spain, but may stem from Silvio Rodriguez, who is a celebrated Cuban singer/songwriter.
The couple started dating in 2007 after co-starring on the Woody Allen movie Vicky Christina Barcelona.
Over the years, they have managed to keep a very low-profile, but when Bardem received the Best Actor award at Cannes Film Festival, he paid a special tribute to his wife. "I share this joy with my friend, my companion, my love. Penelope: I owe you a lot and I love you so much."
