Amanda Holden has given birth to a baby girl – but the actress spent three days in a "critical condition". The Britain's Got Talent judge was treated in an intensive care unit following her admission to hospital on Monday morning, but is now said to be stable. Her new daughter, Hollie Rose Hughes, was delivered on Monday. A spokeswoman for Amanda and her husband, Chris Hughes, said the star is expected to make a full recovery.
Alison Griffin said: "Hollie Rose Hughes was born on 23 January 2012. She is healthy and weighed in at 6.1lb but Amanda has been in a critical condition for the past three days. "She is now stable and we expect her to make a full recovery very soon. We thank you for respecting their privacy at this time."
The 40-year-old, who was forced to pull out of BGT auditions earlier this week, already has a daughter, Lexi. But complications during that pregnancy with a low lying placenta meant she gave birth by Caesarean section.
Amanda is understood to have been more than eight months pregnant, although she had not revealed the baby's due date. She has had a healthy pregnancy up until now, but has had difficulties with previous pregnancies. There was heartbreak just under a year ago when she had a stillborn son seven months into a pregnancy. And in 2010 she suffered a miscarriage.
A spokeswoman for Britain's Got Talent said: "We extend our congratulations to Amanda and Chris on the birth of Hollie and wish Amanda a speedy recovery."
