Despite its name, The Sundance Film Festival takes place in the chilly winter climes of Utah, so when Nicole Kidman jetted in to promote her latest project, she took the chance to showcase an alternative style. The actress looked elegant – and warm – swathed in a double-breasted maroon coat accessorised with leather gloves and classic nude heels. That famous flame-haired mane also looked to have been subject to a reinvention, with soft honey-blonde waves replacing her usual straight style.
Nicole's look was perfect for the most laid-back festival on the film calendar, where the star was in attendance to promote Stoker – an edgy thriller which also stars Mia Wasikowska and Matthew Goode. The young actors accompanied their A-list co-star in the absence of her singer husband Keith Urban, with whom Nicole has two daughters, Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret. While introducing audiences to her walk on the cinematic wild side, Nicole is also in the throes of filming a more mainstream project in which she plays Hollywood siren turned Monegasque royal, Grace Kelly.
As Grace of Monaco, Nicole will portray the dramatic moment when her husband, Prince Rainier III, faced a crisis because of pressure from France to review the principality's standing as a tax haven. Amidst the drama, the screen goddess was required to give him all her support, consolidating her standing as a royal and ushering in a golden era which is still revered in the present day.
Between projects, Nicole returns to her role as mother and wife. With their laid-back life in Nashville, away from Hollywood's bright lights, she, Keith and their little girls have one of those low-key lives that everyone admires.
Conor and Isabella, the star's teenage children with her ex Tom Cruise are of course regular visitors to their mothers' estate. After splitting from Tom, with whom Nicole once admitted to sharing a "great love", the statuesque Australian found happiness with fellow Antipodean Keith, and the pair married in their homeland in 2006.
