Pippa Middleton graced the cover of Waitrose Kitchen for the April issue of the upmarket supermarket's food magazine. Inside the magazine, readers got a first glimpse of her 'Pippa's Friday Night Feasts' column. Kate Middleton's younger sister shared her oriental-inspired menu and tips for a "relaxed Asian-themed night in with friends". Highlights included hoisins duck roll, ginger mojitos, homemade sushi and tangerine and sake jellies with coconut cream.
The 29-year-old former events planner gave an insight into her social life and proved that she lives up to her party princess reputation. "Regardless of how tired I might be, the moment Friday lunchtime arrives I get that contagious pre-weekend excitement," she wrote. "Even if I'm feeling exhausted and don't feel like doing anything but watching telly, I can put off being tired till Saturday." As well as useful kitchen tips, the professional party planner also suggests how to create ambiance. She recommends bright flowers, paper lanterns, fair lights and floating candles to "set the mood".The attractive brunette wore a navy floral print dress which she teamed with her trademark smokey eye makeup and the tips of her hair gently tousled for the shoot. Ahead of the first column, Pippa said it would be an exciting opportunity for her to share her "own passion and enthusiasm for food and entertaining." "I can't wait to get started," she added. She replaced former Waitrose Kitchen columnist and veteran on the UK foodie scene, Delia Smith. The decision undeniably raised a few eyebrows but the £1.20 monthly magazine’s editor William Sitwell defended his hiring of Pippa and praised her talents.
"She's on tremendous form," he said ahead of the column's launch. "The first column comes out next week so we can expect the usual flurry of abuse from newspapers and food bloggers who are jealous that they haven't got columns. "In the mix of the magazine, her stuff is fantastic. She's there alongside (Cordon Bleu chef) Yotam Ottolenghi and some other up-and-coming chefs like Ben Tish from Salt Yard. "You'll still see an array of talent that we use. She's done her very first series as an Asian-themed Friday night feast and I think people will enjoy it. When people see the work that she's doing, they'll calm down." The vote of confidence will be a boost for the professional party planner, who recently parted ways with her literary agent, David Godwin. "I am very sorry it has happened," he said. "But yes, it is true: I no longer represent Pippa and I wish her good luck." Pippa's entertaining guide Celebrate: A Year of British Festivities For Families and Friends was released amid great expectations in October last year, with the debutante reportedly receiving a £400,000 advance from publisher Michael Joseph. Parting from agent David will give Pippa time to focus on other projects such as her Waitrose column and her online party magazine, The Party Times. The website is inspired by the Middleton family business, Party Pieces, which provides supplies for events from first birthday parties to wedding receptions. Pippa’s younger brother James Middleton also works in the industry and owns The Cake Kit Company. His innovative business supplies ready-weighed and prepared ingredients as well as decorations and candles so that customers are can bake them at home.
