The award-winning performer is widely considered one of the greatest lyricists of all time and throughout his prolific 17-year career has collaborated with artists such as Dr. Dre, Rihanna, Dido, Elton John, Adam Levine and Sia.Eminem, born Marshall Mathers III, first broke out onto the rap scene in 1996 with debut album Infinite, but it wasn’t until he released his second album The Real Slim Shady LP in 1999 that the star rose to mainstream success and even earned his first Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.
Following this initial success, his popularity spread worldwide with the release of albums The Marshall Mathers LP, The Eminem Show and Encore, for which he went on to win multiple Grammys and Diamond Certification in the US. In addition to his solo career, ‘Slim Shady’ is a member of rap group D12, has starred in hip-hop film 8-Mile and released an autobiography entitled The Way I Am which recounts the rapper’s struggles with poverty, drugs, fame, heartbreak and depression. The 42-year old has a daughter, Hailie, with ex-wife Kim Scott, to who he has been married twice.
