With its perfect colour and hidden codes and symbols, Halle Berry’s engagement ring really is one of a kind. The actress showed off the beautiful gem given to her by fiancé Olivier Martinez as she attended a golf event in Los Angeles this week. And it’s clear the romantic French actor put a great deal of thought into choosing a sparkler for his leading lady.
The striking band was created especially for Halle by Parisian designer Robert Mazlo, who has known Olivier for several years. And according to the jeweller, it “truly symbolizes the couple’s story”.The exquisite ring features a four-carat emerald at its centre that is “perfect” in colour and which was sourced from “closed-down mines in Muzo, Colombia”. It also incorporates two diamonds set in a hand-forged, textured yellow-gold band. And while it doesn't have an inscription, it does contain a special meaning.“The ring is textured and contains codes and symbols which you cannot see… only the person wearing it can,” the jeweller told People.“It’s very uncommon. The symbols and codes represent (the couple’s story) and only they can interpret it.”
In 2007, Halle famously declared that she wouldn't tie the knot again following failed marriages to baseball player David Justice and singer Eric Benet. But falling in love with Olivier has given her a change of heart.“Who knew?!,” the future Mrs Martinez Oscar winner told Extra with a laugh. “I swore it off, right? Never say never people!”
