Jennifer Lopez has said that her divorce from Marc Anthony marked a real turning point in her life. "My topic is love. It always has been," the singer said of her upcoming tenth album. "It's my motivation. It's what I think about it. That's who I am at the essence.
"But what I thought about love for my first nine albums is very different from what I think about it now, after everything I've been through."
Speaking to Popcrush, the 44-year-old said she was inspired to get back in the recording studio immediately after wrapping up her Dance Again world tour.
"My goal was just to be as honest as I could," she said. "You know, I'd gone through a lot in my life right at that point when I went on tour.
"I'd been through a divorce. A lot of things had happened. I really felt like it was a turning point in my life."
Jennifer and Marc, 45, were married in June 2004, and had twins Max and Emme (now six) before their split in July 2011. The songstress is now dating a backing dancer Casper Smart.
After three divorces, Jennifer has confessed she is in no rush to walk down the aisle again.
"In the past, love for me has always meant forever, and sure you nurse those fantasies, but I don't try to force it anymore," she said in an interview with InStyle."
I hung on to my fairy tale ideals for a long time. But where I am now, what I've been through, there are no rules. There are lots of ways it can turn out instead of just one.
"There are so many different kinds of happiness, not just the one you learned about when you were five years old."
But, the star admitted that she doesn't like being single. "Look, I don't love being alone," she said. "I don't. I can't beat myself up about that. What I have to do is figure out why I don't like it. Why am I not okay with being alone? And can I be okay facing that?"
