Cristiano Ronaldo had the honour of being the best man at the wedding of his agent Jorge Mendes on Sunday – and he lived up to his title by reportedly buying the bride and groom their own Greek island as a wedding gift.It is not known which island the Real Madrid star purchased, but the price tag is expected to have run into the millions.

Jorge is one of football's most successful agents, and his star-studded wedding was attended by a number of big names from the world of sport, including Cristiano, Roman Abramovich, Alex Ferguson and Real Madrid president Florentino Perez.Guests gathered in an exclusive residential area of Porto in Portugal to celebrate as Jorge and his partner Sandra, who have three children together and have been in a civil partnership since 2005, became husband and wife.Cristiano, 30, has won the Ballon d'Or world footballer of the year award three times, and last year earned 72.9 million euros ($80million) according to Forbes. He is the second most valuable athlete behind the boxer Floyd 'Money' Mayweather.

The star's generosity is renowned. In May it was revealed that the father-of-one had donated £5million to help the charity Save The Children carry out its earthquake relief efforts in Nepal.Last year he made headlines again when he was asked to donate some items to help raise €60,000 to pay for an operation for a ten-month-old baby boy suffering with cortical dysplasia. He donated his shirt and boots, and paid for the operation on top of it.Cristiano also works closely with Unicef and World Vision, and has donated millions to help children in Gaza. In 2004, he flew to Indonesia to help in the aftermath of the tsunami having seen a survivor there wearing a shirt with his name on the back.
