Fern Britton returned to This Morning for the first time in eight years on Thursday to discuss her upcoming show, Fern Britton's Holy Land Journey, and to try her hand at some cooking with her husband, the show's resident chef Phil Vickery. While chatting to Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, the former presenter of the Breakfast show revealed she had a tattoo of a small cross on her wrist. "It's very small, it's very discreet," she said. "And this is done, well it's explained in the film, that pilgrims from years ago, the Knights Templars and things would go and get these tattoos done which meant you got like a passport stamp." She then added: "Yes, when you shake hands it means you come in peace," proceeding to shake hands with the pair.

Fern spoke about her new show
When the co-hosts asked her if she had another tattoo, Fern turned her back to the camera to show Ruth, leading the presenter to joke: "Oh no it's not her first! And she can't even show us the other one, can she Phil?" Fern then revealed that Phil was upset that she had her first tattoo done, joking: "He wouldn't speak to me after I did it. He said, 'I thought I knew you!' It was like I'd had an affair. Anyway never mind, that's another story!
