There’s no doubt in the minds of our readers as to who should take over the screen role of secret agent James Bond when the time comes – Orlando Bloom is the people’s choice.
The 27-year-old star came out well on top in the hellomagazine.com poll to find a successor to Pierce Brosnan - who has said the current 007 flick will be his last - snatching a whopping 44.5 per cent of the 18,000 votes cast. And the Legolas actor was up against some stiff competition, in the shapes of Jude Law, Hugh Jackman and Colin Farrell.
Jude Law, 31, was the only one who managed to keep Orlando more or less in his sights, notching up 35 per cent of the vote. Hugh Jackman, 35, was favoured by 13 per cent of readers, but most were apparently unconvinced by the idea of 27-year-old Colin Farrell as the suave action hero. The high living Irishman gleaned a mere seven per cent of the votes cast.
Now that 50-year-old Pierce Brosnan has indicated he’ll be retiring after his fifth film, the hunt is on for a new 007. Twenty Bond movies have been made over the past 40 years, and the newest embodiment of Ian Fleming’s creation will be following in the footsteps of Sean Connery, Roger Moore, George Lazenby, Timothy Dalton and Pierce.
