Having played a tough cowboy in Brokeback Mountain and a surfer in Aussie soap Home and Away, it seems action man Heath Ledger continues his energetic roles off screen, too. The 27-year-old, who was casually dressed in a purple beanie and baggy trousers, was spotted heading out for a bit of skateboarding action near the Brooklyn home he shares with actress Michelle Williams and their one-year-old daughter Matilda.
The active dad, who played hockey back in his native Australia, is no stranger to skateboarding. In the 2005 flick Lords Of Dogtown the hunky star's character joins a group of streetwise pals in breaking into affluent homes to practise boarding in their empty swimming pools.
Heath's cheeky grin may not have been solely due to hanging out with his buddy, though. The couple applied for a marriage licence in New York last November and rumours are circling that he and Michelle may have tied the knot after he was spotted wearing a wedding band. The uber-private pair have not commented on the rumours. A friend of the couple explained last year: "Heath and Michelle don't like the spotlight. If they get married it will be a quiet wedding at a local church and then a party at the River Café afterwards for friends and family."
