After years of seeing midi-dresses and demure fashionably modest high-neck styles dominate the sartorial agenda (Vampire's Wife we're looking at you) Anya Taylor-Joy is unofficially championing the return of the ultra mini.
Stepping out in not one but three mini dresses this week in New York, Anya has proven that winter is the perfect time to get your pins out. On Tuesday the Argentinian-British actress wore an adorable romantic pink mini dress (the first of three looks in total), from Nensi Dojaka's spring/summer 2023 collection.

Making a case for Barbiecore
The delicate construction with its tiny rouleau straps, and sheer frilled lavender bustier, melded into a pink figure hugging skirt - which served an elegant take on the Barbiecore trend, down to her perspex clear heels. Wearing her Targareyen-like mane loose, she showed that with the right design, a mini dress can be just as sublime as its midi counterpart.
Anya donned a PatBo dress with cutout sides
Later on the 26 year old Queen’s Gambit star opted for an equally (if not more) risque black pearl studded ensemble from PatBo’s Spring/Summer 2023 Ready-to-Wear Collection. The dress is the brainchild of Brazilian designer Patricia Bonaldi, who grew up in Brazil’s 'embroidery capital' Uberlandia, where her atelier still creates its dazzling hand-embellished gowns. Anya paired the dress with Christian Louboutin’s So Kate 120 Leather Pumps and over £46,000 worth of jewellery from Tiffany & Co. including the brand's Victoria Diamond Vine Bypass Ring in Platinum and Paloma Melody Ring.

Her classic coat also featured a short hemline
On the same day she also wore a short coat dress, which had all the hallmarks of a Dior classic, which was an outfit unto itself. It's giving Eloise at The Plaza all-grown-up and we are here for it.
The actress has a habit of breaking all the rules when it comes to the red carpet, and her mini dress look for The Menu New York Premiere on Monday was no exception. The lampshade silhouette (reminiscent of her Dior ensemble for the Harper's Bazaar Women of the Year Awards) was again from the french couture house. She proved that a gown isn’t always the only way to go in the short-skirted avant garde number. Accessorised with Dior's fresh-off-the-runway gloves, the lace black dress was the epitome of glam goth.
Anya is a fan of Dior's voluminous silhouette
When it comes to red carpet hemlines, it looks like the only way to go is up for Anya.
