Move over Kylie Jenner, Anya Taylor-Joy is the latest couture week attendee on the fashion set’s lips.
Schiaparelli kicked off day one of this sartorially glorious week in Paris, by causing a stir with fashion fanatics and animal activists alike. Kylie Jenner turning up to sit front row wearing a Lion’s head (a handmade one, Schiaparelli has eagerly expressed) and was the talk of the town, giving ‘cat’-walk a new literal meaning.

However the day ended with Dior being the French powerhouse everybody was talking about. The Spring Summer 2023 show was inspired by actress, activist and Christian Dior’s former muse Josephine Baker as well as the ‘Roaring ‘20s’, and Dior’s creative director Maria Grazia Chiuri served vintage glamour through a modern, minimalistic, opulent lens.
Anya Taylor-Joy is a 21st century powerhouse in her own right. The actress whose big break came after Netflix’s The Queen Gambit in 2020, is becoming one of the fashion world’s most loved sartorial muses. So much so that Dior named her its Global Ambassador in 2021, so naturally we couldn’t wait to see what she wore to its couture show this week. We’ve witnessed her ‘lewks’ vary from 90s chic slip dresses to structured lace dresses inspired by Catherine de Medicis.
This time the 26-year-old Anglo-Argentine was a vision of Spanish elegance wearing the ultimate monochromatic skirt and corset set, from the brand’s Cruise 2023 collection which was inspired by the traditional Andalusian silhouette.

Taylor-Joy wore a cream top which featured the ultimate scoop plunge neckline, and somehow the exaggerated cut was deeper and more revealing yet ‘more tasteful’ than a traditional V-neckline. The top was with black embroidery in Dior’s signature ‘Ornamental motif’ from the collection. Anya worked the room (and the whole of Paris) by throwing the cream embroidered jacket to match her corset over her shoulders, and wore matching cat-eye sunglasses – an accessory essential for Anya, regardless of any sunshine, based on her last few Dior show looks. The ensemble was paired with a black maxi skirt with a horizontal lace panel, and block heel black boots. Chic.
She posted a video to her Instagram proving that she could easily go tote-to toe with any catwalk model, with the caption: ?Un plaisir comme toujours?Beautiful show yesterday @dior #ryanhastings - love this family ?”.
An ever-reliable budding fashion icon.
