Britney Spears was greeted by a deafening roar of applause when she took to the stage at this year's Teen Choice Awards on Sunday. And the heavily pregnant chanteuse, who is expecting her second child shortly, wanted to make sure her leading man got just as enthusiastic a reception.

"This show has been very good to me and my career over the years," she told the audience. "And I'm hoping it will be just as good to our next performer." Her husband of two years, Kevin Federline, then stepped into the spotlight and brought the house down with an energetic rendition of his single Lose Control.

The aspiring rapper's network debut was judged to be one of the high points of the evening, but he was by no means the only one basking in glory in the Gibson Amphitheatre. Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves won the award for best onscreen kiss, thanks to their moment of passion in The Lake House. "I started out young," revealed the popular actress. "I was making out at nine years old like a bandit."

And British heart-throb Orlando Bloom found himself sharing the podium with Jessica Alba after they were named the top "hotties" of 2006. Southern belle Reese Witherspoon likewise received one of the unusual surf board trophies, for her portrayal of June Carter in the Johnny Cash biopic Walk The Line.

Despite their distinctly informal flavour, the Teen Choice Awards attract a great deal of star power. Among the other big names joining in the fun at Sunday's prizegiving were Adam Sandler, Mischa Barton, Jessica Simpson, Carmen Electra and Ashton Kutcher.
