One Direction have got in touch with their sporty side in Newcastle. The boyband members made the most of their time in the city by challenging Newcastle United's squad to a football match. Spending their time on the ground with Tulisa Contostavlos's beau Danny Simpson and Ryan Taylor, the group enjoyed a football match with the Premiership League squad at their training ground, St James' Park. Treating One Direction fans to a picture of a post-match shirtless Harry Styles, Danny struck up a bond with the What Makes You Beautiful singer. "Proper safe guy Harry Styles," said Danny.
Taking an ice bath for some post-match recovery, Harry tweeted some wise words to budding footballers on Twitter. "Just had my first ice bath," said the star. "Note: If someone is laughing as you're getting into something, you probably should stop getting in." Niall Horan also played the cheeky chappie at the football ground, posing in the football team's classic black and white strip. "Sign him up!" joked the star.
"MASSIVE thanks to Alan Pardew and the staff and players @NUFCofficial for the training session today! Was incredible!" added the Kiss You singer. Although the boys got serious on the pitch, they let off some steam the night previous as they partied at Waikiki nightclub, causing a stir amongst their fellow guests. Sad to say goodbye to the Geordie town's delights as they had their final gig in the city, Zayn Malik shared his love for Newcastle with his fans. "Thank you newcastle , amazing crowds , love you allll :)," he wrote on Twitter. Stopping in the town for the latest leg of their sell-out Take Me Home world tour, the band will be selecting their best tartan as they head up to Glasgow for their next gig date. Although they may have lost their match, the singers have a lot to celebrate. Louis, Liam, Zayn, Harry and Niall have all featured in this year's Sunday Times Rich List with an estimated individual wealth of £5million.
