Blonde bombshell Denise Van Outen is heading back to the theatre - only this time, she won't be treading the boards herself. The former Chicago actress is making waves Stateside as the host of a new reality show Grease: You're The One I Want, touring the country searching for stars for the coveted roles in the musical.

Acting as a co-host alongside US TV personality Billy Bush, Denise and the crew are taking the open casting call on a whirlwind tour of the States. And Denise says she is perfectly suited to the role of host and mentor to the contestants, having been through the process herself.

"I actually auditioned for Grease, the London production, when I was 17 years old and I really, really wanted to play Sandy," she reveals. "I didn't get it, which is why I wanted to be involved in this show... because I've been through it, so I know exactly what they're going through. I cried for days when I didn't get the role, I was so upset. It meant so much to me."

Hopefuls have to prove their skills in singing, dancing and acting before a panel of judges in the style of the UK's hit show, How To Solve A Problem Like Maria. The unknowns chosen to play Danny and Sandy will appear on Broadway, having defeated thousands of fellow-contestants to star in the much-loved show.
