Early life
Goldie Jeanne Hawn was born in Washington DC on November 21, 1945. Goldie first took to the stage as a ballet dancer at the tender age of three. Her mother ran the dance school where she learned her first steps, while her father, a professional violinist, provided the music.
Early career
A little over two decades later Goldie made her professional debut, dancing the can-can at the World Fair in New York in 1964. Within a few years she had won a part in the legendary comedy sketch show Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In, which launched her already popular so-called 'dumb blonde' stage persona to further stardom.
Career success
In the years that followed she made a series of well-received comedies such as There's a Girl in My Soup, Butterflies Are Free and The Duchess and the Dirtwater Fox. She won an Oscar for her performance in 1969's Cactus Flower and starring roles in Overboard, Death Becomes Her and The First Wives Club all followed, continuing her popularity. Most recently, she has starred alongside her partner Kurt Russell in Netflix's The Christmas Chronicles films.
Personal life
Goldie has been married twice, first to Gus Trikonis from 1969 to 1976 and second to Bill Hudson from 1976 and 1982. With Bill, she had two children, Oliver and Kate Hudson, both of whom have gone on to work successfully in Hollywood. On Valentine's Day 1983, Goldie met Kurt Russell, and while the pair are still not married, they have been a couple for the last 40 years. They share a son, Wyatt Russell, who is a former ice hockey player turned actor.
The Overboard actress is very involved in charitable endeavors. Her very own Hawn Foundation was set up as a non-profit organization to help education in America in 2003. She is also committed to the Foundation's MindUP initiative, which aims to help improve mental health across schools.
