Clad in a hot pink power suit with gold detail, the effervescent Ivana Trump launched her Las Vegas residential tower project in the appropriately named Club Fizz on Wednesday.
Donald Trump's ex-wife, a formidable entrepreneur in her own right, is erecting an 80-storey, mega-lux condominium in the heart of glittering Las Vegas. She aims to attract celebrities and other buyers prepared to lash out anything from half a million bucks for an apartment to $35 million for the penthouse. Ivana posed happily alongside a mock-up of the 923-foot tower, due to be completed in 2008. The gleaming silver construction, which looks a bit like a giant lipstick, will cost $1 billion to construct and is being cheerfully marketed by the former Czech ski champion under the slogan, 'In Vegas, Size Matters'.
The whole project bears Ivana's unmistakeable stamp: to get the actual construction process underway, the hostess of TV reality show Ivana Younger Man launched a nationwide hunt for America's sexiest male construction workers, inviting wives, girlfriends and the more narcissistic themselves to send in photos. The winners, shortly to be revealed, will appear in a calendar guaranteed to keep interest in the project alive, and some will be invited to take part in the construction itself.
Hands-on Ivana, meanwhile, will be designing the interiors for the 11 different kinds of unit available. She already has an excellent reputation and plenty of experience to draw on, having done similar work in Donald's Trump Tower – at only 62 storeys, his is quite a bit smaller than hers - and The Plaza and Grand Hyatt hotels in New York.
