As news broke that Bono, Beyonce and Stevie Wonder will all be performing at the concert to mark Barack Obama's inauguration, further details have emerged about the president-elect's historic day.
A big admirer of anti-slavery president Abraham Lincoln, Mr Obama has requested he be sworn into office on the same velvet-trimmed, gold-bound bible used by the 19th century leader. It will be only the second time the Lincoln bible has featured in the ceremony.
The civil war-era President has also inspired the menu for the formal lunch following Mr Obama's inaugural speech on January 20. The father-of-two and 200 guests will tuck into seafood stew in puff pastry - recalling President Lincoln's passion for sea food - and a duck and herb-roasted pheasant combination which echoes family meals when Lincoln was a boy in Indiana. Each recipe will be served on replicas of the china used in the 1861 inauguration.
The new President also dropped by Washington's Lincoln Memorial on Saturday evening with his wife Michelle and their two girls, Malia and Sasha.
