The universe of color has taken on a whole new dimension this week at New York Bridal Week: at the hands of one of its star designers, Oscar de la Renta.
Bridal gowns in spring shades of blue, green, pink and white shone on the catwalk, with a delicate combination of lines and tones, and the surprising and new use of color. A delicate combination of lines and tones and the fabulous use of blue throughout the designs highlighted the collection. Intricate details make each design a model of the Paris couture, with a nod to tradition. A true display of spectacular sewing techniques, the dresses are finished with heart-shaped bustiers, falling sleeves, jeweled accents, and covered with intricate lace overlays.
Brides who opt for one of these can cross off the 'something blue' on the to-do list. For the most coquettish: in tune with his new line of children's fashion, the Dominican designer presented a small collection of dresses for young ladies of honour. Several of the dresses came down the aisle preceded by flower girls wearing younger versions of the grown-up gowns.
The collection also featured subtle floral prints and details on soft colour palettes, in pastel shades ranging from ivory, indigo and blue Tiffany.
