Vintage glamour meets contemporary chic at Catherine and John's wedding

August 7, 2012

John and Catherine had been together for twelve years before they tied the knot on September 9th 2011. The couple chose a stunning riverside location for their day at the Ferrycarrig Hotel, Wexford, Ireland.

Although rain disrupted their original plans for an outdoor ceremony, they still managed to make the most of the beautiful backdrop with a riverside drinks reception for their guests as well as having part of the photo shoot outside. John and Catherine were keen to hold a ceremony that was reflective of their individual personalities and their relationship.

Their ceremony was a break from the traditional norm and was officiated by Romy McAuley. It included a remembrance for John’s parents, a sand ceremony, poetry and a touching reflection by Romy. Celebrations followed as guests enjoyed dinner, dancing and a very personal touch from the bride who made the delicious wedding cake herself.

Bride Catherine went for a vintage look. She opted for a Pronovias champagne satin gown which channelled old Hollywood glamour. She told HELLO! Online, "I'm not one for traditional looks; I wanted something different from the norm but ageless".

She teamed her one-shoulder dress, which featured a fishtail train and low cut back, with a birdcage veil and sparkling marcasite jewellery.

The newlyweds, overwhelmed by their guests' kindness, said "A lasting memory is people's generosity, not just in gifts but in generosity of spirit. So many people wishing us well was unexpected and hugely touching".
