Overcoming the struggles of a long-distance relationship wasn't easy with Ashley based in Hohne, Germany with the Army. But when Ashley got down on one knee in muddy ground as the sun set over the lake, Michelle was overcome with happiness, immediately replying with a 'yes!'The couple were given a delightful surprise following their engagement when it became clear they were expecting a baby. Adorable baby Zachary was born on January 6, 2012 just in time to enjoy the wedding day with his mummy and daddy.

The challenge of getting back into a wedding dress posed no problem for Michelle who looked radiant in her stunning Madeline Garner of New York gown with a rose detail skirt.

Her groom stood at her side in his traditional Army Number 1 dress during the day and in the evening wore a navy Edwardian suit with a modern fuschia tie from Andrew J Musson of Lincoln. Bridesmaids and ushers complemented the scheme with fuschia ties and dresses.

During the church service at St Botolph’s Church, they lit candles for Michelle's grandmother who passed away the previous year, and Ashley’s friend Mark Chandler who died during their tour in Afghanistan on June 8, 2010. After a perfect ceremony, family and guests attended a beautiful and fun-filled reception at the same Woodland Waters where Ashley had proposed.
