Eimear and Martin wed on the island where they first met

September 28, 2012

What´s more romantic than marrying in the place where it all started? Despite both living and working in Limerick, Eimear and Martin Cussen met in their parents hometown and knew that this was the perfect destination for their wedding due to its sentimental value and unique personal meaning.

On a return holiday to Archill Island and a visit to Keem bay beach, Martin popped the question. Knelt down on one knee, with ‘marry me?’ scrawled across the sand, the proposal was impossible to refuse. The couple exchanged vows on the 4th ocotber on Archill Island, Co Mayo exactly three years to the day they had their first encounter in Ireland. A beautiful ceremony took place in the Church of Mary Immaculate on a lovely sunny day on the island followed by an unforgettable reception at Mulranny Park Hotel on the outskirts.

The bride graced the wedding aisle in an Enzoani gown and the couple were later swept away to have their pictures taken around the Atlantic drive.

Guests were greeted by an ice-cream cart, wedding band and irish dancing. The festivities continued further through the night with an explosion of fireworks to toast and congratulate the new beginnings of the happy couple. The bride revealed to Hello! ‘We had the best day of our lives and topped it off with fireworks to finish the night’The celebrations continued when the newly-weds jet-setted off to the BodyHotel , Cariblue Beach, Saint Lucia for 10 nights. It was luxury at its best and an adventure to say the least. The couple got the chance to experience waterskiing, scuba diving and daily spa treatments. Naturally, they have plans to revisit the wonders of Saint Lucia for their 10th wedding anniversary.
