When Up All Night actress Christina Applegate wed her musician fiancé Martyn LeNoble in Los Angeles on Saturday, she sparkled every step of the way. The bride wore a Maria Lucia Hohan dress and her wedding ring was designed by Neil Lane, whose creations are a favourite with Hollywood's biggest stars. Known for his unique designs, the renowned jewellery maker told People magazine that Christina's new prized possession "is not a typical ring."
Neil, whose vintage pieces are also worn by the likes of Angelina Jolie, Madonna and Charlize Theron, explained the sparkler in detail: "It has a border of diamonds around it like a sleeve. We took her engagement ring and fit it in a sleeve of little diamonds to become one with the wedding band. It’s platinum and diamond inset with tiny little diamonds everywhere." Christina, 41, married Dutch bassist Martyn in a secret ceremony at their home amid the hype of the Oscars, the only insight to the day coming when Martyn tweeted, "What a glorious day." Only about eight people attended the intimate nuptials, including the couple's two-year-old daughter Sadie Grace and Martyn's daughter Marlin. Neil, who designed both the bride and groom's rings, added, "It was just the right time. They're a very happy couple. There is a great deal of love between them." The Emmy award-winning actress, who plays Rachel's sister in Friends, had been engaged to Martyn since Valentine's Day 2010, and the performers were friends before they started dating in 2007.
Having recently designed Miley Cyrus' engagement ring, Neil has also worked with Zooey Deschanel's fiancé Ben Gibbard. The New Girl actress was then presented with a three-carat Asscher-cut diamond engagement ring set in platinum. John Krasinski chose to propose to Emily Blunt with a three-carat Neil Lane Edwardian diamond and platinum ring worth $100,000, and model Milla Jovovich wears a 19th-century vintage gold engagement ring with coloured pink, yellow and white diamonds by Neil Lane, following her engagement to Paul W.S. Anderson.
