If you're looking to add a touch of vintage style to your wedding day then prepare to be inspired by the glittering Great Gatsby glamour taking over the fashion world. Set to premiere in Cannes later this May, celebrations are already underway. The beautiful actresses who star in the film, Carey Mulligan and Isla Fisher, attended a cocktail party in New York on Tuesday evening to pay homage to the costume creator's dazzling designs.

Of course, nothing says the 'Roaring Twenties' like an embellished flapper dress. Among Catherine Martin and Miuccia Prada – the designers behind the dresses – gorgeous cream and silver creations ideal for any wedding day celebration were featured. The hand-stitched sequins and fringe trim gives a grown-up feel to the relaxed shift cut of one design while the bespoke glass embellishments of another dress is styled with a fur shawl for the ultimate display of vintage decadence.

For a modern take on the glitz and glam, designer Rita Vinieris of Rivini bridal designs brought a refreshing take of luxury designs to the catwalks of New York Bridal Week 2013/14. Cut from lush silk satins and chiffon, Rivini keeps the silhouette fluid with traditional floor-length designs but updates the look with delicate beading and meticulous attention to detail. The 1920s were big on accessorising an outfit to perfection as Carey Mulligan shows by styling her blonde crop with statement headbands and grips in The Great Gatsby.

To achieve the look, take inspiration from Oscar de la Renta and Reem Acra who presented sumptuous silk veils decorated with jeweled hair clasps and tiaras in New York.
