White has always been the most popular choice of colour for brides when it comes to choosing their wedding gown, but some celebrities have ditched the traditional look and donned colourful dresses instead.While Gwen Stefani and Anne Hathaway opted for two-toned pink and white numbers, Avril Lavigne and Sarah Jessica Parker went completely opposite and wore jet black on their big day.Looking back at the catwalks of this year's bridal fashion shows, it seems these fashion-forward celebrities had all the reason not to wear white.

Blush pink has been a go-to shade for various celebrity brides, with Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Biel and Portia de Rossi among others choosing a petal pink coloured gown.

Oscar de la Renta's collection features the same shade, and if you're after a more wintery look, his pale blue number could be an option.

2. Vera Wang's Fall 2014 collection

Apart from Gwen Stefani and Anne Hathaway, other famous brides who have walked down the aisle in deeper shades of pink or red include Melissa Gilbert and Julianne Moore.If you're after the same look, Vera Wang recently unveiled her latest bridal collection in New York, showcasing a series of fuchsia, scarlet and coral gowns, many of which were adorned with large flowers and full skirts.

Five decades later and actress Amber Tamblyn opted for a canary yellow gown for her 2012 nuptials.
