Andrea Bocelli marries long-term girlfriend Veronica Berti

March 23, 2014

Opera singer Andrea Bocelli and his long-term partner Veronica Berti have tied the knot after 12 years together. The Italian couple looked emotional and over the moon as they exchanged their vows in front of their nearest and dearest at the Sanctuary of Madonna di Montenero in Tuscany, Italy. The wedding took place in the quaint town of Livorno on Friday evening, on the second birthday of the couple's baby daughter Virginia.

As the newlyweds were pronounced man and wife, Andrea and Veronica shared a tender kiss, much to the delight of their family and friends.

Andrea, 55 — who lost his sight at the age of 12 — looked dapper in a three-piece silk suit. His beautiful bride Veronica stole the show in an ivory, silk satin Ermanno Scervino gown, which was embellished with Valenciennes lace and featured a silk georgette layer. The mother-of-one, who is 25 years younger than her husband, covered her shoulders with an elegant quilted crepe de chine padded jacket.

Wearing half her hair tied up, Veronica fastened her brunette curls back with a sprig of white flowers to match the bouquet of white roses she held.

The new bride looked the picture of happiness as she was led out of the church by her husband and showered with confetti, while waving to the couple's guests.

This was Andrea's second trip down the aisle as the singer-songwriter has previously been married to Enrica Cenzatti, who he split from in 2002. The couple's two sons, Amos and Matteo, were pictured in high spirits as they accompanied their father to the church.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held in Andrea's villa in Forte dei Marmi near Pisa, not far from his previous home in Versilia, which is now occupied by Enrica and her two sons.

Newlyweds Andrea and Veronica have been together since 2002.

The couple introduced their first child and daughter in March 2012 in an exclusive interview with HELLO!

At the time, Andrea said that he was likely to feel "more protective" now that he had a daughter." Fortunately for her, I’ll be old by the time she's 15," he joked.

"So I tell my sons, 'You’ll have the responsibility to do what I can't do anymore.'""It's not so interesting for me to change the pannolino [nappies]," he laughed. "My job is to sing her to sleep."
