Kim Kardashian and Kanye West 'to marry this week'

April 29, 2014

Kim Kardashian  and Kanye West are planning to marry this week, according to TMZ.

The power couple, who got engaged on Kim's birthday last October, are set to tie the knot in a simple "courthouse" wedding followed by a lavish blowout in France.

The lovebirds have already obtained a "confidential" marriage licence and plan to wed before the week is out, the source said.

While Kim and Kanye seem to be keeping their imminent nuptials under wraps, the insider added that the couple will be hosting a much more extravagant do in Paris soon after.

For legal reasons, the queen of reality TV and her rapper fiancé have had to first arrange a civil ceremony in the US.

"Typically, the US recognises citizens getting married in France, but dealing with a foreign government and paperwork could be a nightmare," a source previously said.

"So just to make sure it's legal, Kim and Kanye will first be having a civil ceremony in Southern California."

Paris is a city that is close to both Kim and Kanye's hearts, and was the set for their notorious cover shoot with Vogue.

In one photo, the Keeping Up With The Kardashians star, 33, is pictured walking hand in hand along the banks of the River Seine with her beau. Kim wore a beautiful feathered Alexander McQueen dress which was made especially for her by Sarah Burton — the same designer who created the Duchess of Cambridge, nee Kate Middleton's, wedding gown.

"I'm not telling where or the date, but I think it's kind of obvious it's in Paris," Kim told Jimmy Kimmel in January. The couple are said to have considered Versailles as an option after they were seen visiting the palace after dark, followed by enjoying a dinner hosted by legendary designer Azzedine Alaia.

Another report has claimed that Kim and Kanye will have their Paris ceremony on Saturday 24 May, just a few weeks after obtaining their licence.
