Bob Geldof has proposed to his partner of 18 years, Jeanne Marine. The Live Aid founder has been in a long-term relationship with the French actress and friend of the couple, model Jerry Hall , confirmed he popped the question. The star – who used to be married to Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger - admitted that the bride-to-be is overjoyed with the offer of marriage, and she couldn’t help but spill the news on their behalf.
Bob Geldof and Jeanne Marine “Bob has proposed,” Jerry told the Daily Mail.. “She is over the moon. Jeanne Marine has been a rock and a tower of strength over this.. I’m so excited for her, I am bursting to tell someone. “Bob and Jeanne have been through hell, but they are determined something positive will come out of it. After all the sadness, we need something to focus on which will bring joy and light.” It comes as the inquest to 62-year-old Bob’s late daughter Peaches Geldof is due to take place today . Reports suggest they will announce she died of a heroin overdose last month. Her funeral took place in Davington, Kent, last week and Jerry attended with Jeanne, 49.
Jerry Hall shared the news “I’ve just got back from Texas and accompanied Jeanne to the funeral, ,” she continued. “It was, of course, terribly sad, but she told me that Bob had asked her to marry him out of the blue.” I’m so happy for her. It makes you realise we all have to value what we have.” Boomtown Rats singer Bob divorced his late ex-wife Paula Yates in 1996 and the TV presenter died of a heroin overdose in 2000. The star – who received a knighthood from the Queen in 1986 – met Jeanne at a dinner gathering in Paris and his partner is quoted a saying she was attracted to his “elegance and his Irishness”. Bob adopted Tiger Lily, who his ex Paula had with late Australian INXS musician Michael Hutchence. She is now 17 years old and was brought up with Bob and Paula’s daughters Fifi, 31, and Pixie, 23.
