The Gravity star, 53, and the human rights barrister, 36, are expected to be sending "save the date" cards out soon. "September 12 is the date they are aiming for," a close friend of Amal told MailOnline.

As for the venue, it has been widely speculated that the couple will tie the knot in Lake Como — a favourite holiday spot with George, where the actor owns a lavish, cream-coloured villa that was used to film scenes for Ocean's Twelve. However, the insider revealed that this may no longer be the case. "Everyone thinks they will marry in Lake Como where Georgeowns a beautiful home but Amal feels that is too public," they said. "They are looking to host a small wedding in an Italian village where they can control the photographers. But they haven't decided yet."
