Jessica Simpson marries Eric Johnson: all the wedding details

Jessica Simpson has married her long-term love Eric Johnson. The 33-year-old fashion designer and her former NFL player beau tied the knot on Saturday 5 July at the San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, California. Releasing a statement to People, Jessica and Eric – who are parents to daughter Maxwell, two, and one-year-old son Ace – said that they were "overwhelmed with complete happiness and love". "To say 'I do' in front of family, friends and, most importantly, our children has been the happiest moment of our lives," they added.

The bride walked down the aisle in a bespoke Carolina Herrera wedding dress, following her adorable daughter who acted as a flower girl and her son who served as a ring bearer. Jessica's younger sister Ashlee was also one of the bridesmaids. More than 250 guests attended the lavish wedding, including Ashlee's fiancé and Diana Ross' son Evan, and the bride's close  friend actress Jessica Alba and her husband Cash Warren.

The celebrations had kicked off the day earlier, however, as Jessica and Eric had invited guests to the ranch to ring in the Fourth of July, according to Us Weekly. The red, white and blue-themed party saw the couple's nearest and dearest feast on shrimp, oysters and barbecue baby back ribs among other treats. Later that evening, guests were taken to the nearby Four Seasons La Pacifica where they watched the annual Independence Day fireworks and dined on more food by candlelight. While some partygoers danced the night away until three in the morning, Jessica retired to bed early to get her beauty sleep before the big day. On Saturday morning, she and several of her wedding participants were spotted sipping on champagne as they had their hair and make-up done.

Jessica and Eric, who got engaged in 2010, have previously had to postpone their nuptials after the near back-to-back births of the couple's two children. One of the original plans was to marry in Capri, Italy – the place where Jessica and Eric spent their first holiday together – but the couple felt it was "too much" to ask guests to fly to Europe. "It will definitely be extravagant," Jessica, who was married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2006, previously said about her second wedding. "I don't do things small."
