Each year the average cost of having a wedding creeps up by the hundreds, to the point that more and more couples are choosing to marry abroad.

While a wedding overseas, or a "destination wedding" as they're more commonly called, falls within the £6,000 and £7,000 price range, the average price for a UK wedding is £24,000, according to loveholidays.com.

It's no wonder that the travel agent has seen a rising trend in couples getting hitched abroad.

Alongside financial reasons, the majority of those surveyed said they would marry away for the climate, a smaller guest list, the destination itself and the ability to pull off that perfect beach or city wedding – without having to worry about the unreliable weather.
