Andy Murray and Kim Sears wedding: Kilt-clad tennis star arrives at Dunblane Cathedral

In January he said he'd wait until the day itself to choose whether he would wear a kilt for his wedding and it seems Andy Murray swayed in favour of Scottish tradition on his special day. Sporting a navy, green and gold number with a black waistcoat and jacket, the excited groom arrived at Dunblane Cathedral to tie the knot with Kim Sears.Grinning broadly as he stepped out of a smart blue car to cheers from the waiting crowd, Andy showed he had followed in the footsteps of his elder brother Jamie, who married Alejandra Gutierrez in the siblings' home city in 2010, and chosen for himself and best man Jamie to wear kilts and sporrans.Andy's two other best men, Ross Hutchins and Carlos Mier, sported navy blue suits.

Beaming Andy waved at the waiting crowd

During an conversation carried out after his win at the Australian Open earlier his year, Andy was quizzed about what he would wear to his wedding when an interviewer asked him: "So morning suit or kilt?"The sportsman jokingly told the audience, who were shouting out their preferences, "to relax" before adding: "I think I'm going to have both options and see what I feel like in the morning when I wake up."

Both Andy and Kim, who was seated in the stands, were left blushing when the interviewer continued to ask whether the sportsman would choose to forego wearing anything under his kilt – to which he responded "Exactly".While fans around the world were keen to support Andy on his special day, there has been particular affection for the former Wimbledon champion in his home city and country.

Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon offered her best wishes to Andy and Kim – who have been together for ten years since meeting at the age of 17."I send my warm congratulations to Andy and Kim on their big day," she said in a statement. "And wish them all the very best for a long and happy life together.
