Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello's upcoming wedding: all the details

November 13, 2015

Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello are set to tie the knot later this month and in the lead-up to the couple's big day, HELLO! Online has gathered everything we know about the A-list nuptials. Sofia has previously dropped hints about her special ceremony, which will come less than a year after she got engaged on Christmas Day 2014.

On Thursday the Modern Family star was spotted visiting the Mark Zunino bridal boutique in Beverly Hills; Mark is reportedly making one of Sofia's reception dresses. As for her actual wedding gown, Zuhair Murad is tipped to be the chosen designer.

The dress

When Sofia walks down the red carpet, all eyes are on her, and on her wedding day it'll be no different. The Hollywood beauty can call on any designer to help make her dress, and it sounds like Sofia has chosen Zuhair Murad, according to ET.

Two sources confirmed to the publication that the bride has picked the Lebanese designer, but in true Sofia style, she'll have at least one outfit change. For her reception, it is thought that Mark Zunino has designed one of her dresses, as well as a few gowns for next year's awards season.

Last week Mark shared a picture of the pair on Instagram, which he captioned: "Stay tuned to see what we're making for my friend Sofia!! A little something special for a very special day!!! #sofiavergara #MarkZunino #MarkZuninoBridal."

"I want to look sexy. I want to look great," said the 43-year-old bride

The curvaceous Latina has been very vocal about her bridal style, which includes ditching a veil. Instead, she'll accessorise with her brand new fragrance Love, which was inspired by her own wedding.

"I'm 43!" Sofia told People. "I don't really need to look like a virgin getting married. I want to look sexy. I want to look great. I want to look good and [wear] something that I know is going to look good in pictures."

While the bride wants a dress that will make her feel "pretty and well-put-together", Sofia also added that she's after something "romantic".

"I already know after so many decades of working what looks good on me and what works on me so there's no point in changing it," she told E! News. "But, you know, it's a wedding so it has to be different, it has to be… maybe a little bit more romantic."

As for her groom, Joe was spotted visiting the upmarket John Varvatos store in West Hollywood this month.

"It's a Latin party, we go until late," said the actress. "There's a party and an after party."

The date

Sofia has previously revealed that she will tie the knot in November – less than a year after she got engaged to Joe on Christmas Day 2014. Various publications have pinned down the date to Sunday 22 November, just before the Thanksgiving holiday when the cast of Modern Family are reportedly given a week off from filming.

The venue

With around 400 friends and family on the guest list, it was always going to be hard to keep details under wraps. According to ET, Sofia and Joe will say "I do" at The Breakers Palm Beach resort in Florida.

The Italian Renaissance-style resort sits on a private beach – perfect for the lovebirds to enjoy their special day away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi.

As the couple live in Beverly Hills, Sofia and Joe will have to fly to Florida for their upcoming nuptials. "It's going to happen very far away [in a] very secret place where nobody is going to find us," Sofia has previously joked to E! News. "It's on a plane!"

The guest list

Being as popular as Sofia is no easy feat. The TV show favourite is inviting no fewer than 400 people after her guest list spiralled out of control. She and Joe even considered eloping but the bride's family couldn't take it.

"They wanted a party. They needed a party. The last party I did was when I was turning 40 so it's been like three years so they wanted something," Sofia told E! News. "They started having seizures and heart attacks, complaints and emails with bad words."

As a result, the Colombian self-professed bridezilla is inviting all of her relatives, while her groom has a lot of friends to add to the list. "It became bigger and bigger and bigger," she explained to Ryan Seacrest.

Naturally, the wedding wouldn't be complete without Sofia's on-screen family. "Well of course I'm going," Ed O'Neill, who plays the actress' husband on Modern Family, told ET. "We're all going!"

The reception

Everyone having fun is Sofia's main priority. It's no secret that the Hot Pursuit star is going all out with her nuptials and the entertainment is a big factor.

"To me, it's not all about perfection but all about fun," she told E! News. "Great music, great alcohol and great food. It's a Latin party, we go until late. There's a party and an after party."

Cake and dessert will play a big part in the reception, as Sofia has previously admitted that sweets are "her life". Guest can expect an extravagant wedding cake and an extensive dessert table.

As for the decor, Nolan Gould, who plays Luke Dunphy on Modern Family, dished: "Sofia's very flamboyant and she likes things big. I'm not giving specifics, but there might be animal-print tablecloths!"

While Sofia has openly admitted to being a bridezilla, she has left one important task to her fiancé.

"Joe is charged with picking up the music," Elizabeth Graves, editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Weddings, told ET. "First dance is all about him. If it was up to her, she definitely would be dancing to Pitbull."

The honeymoon

After a lavish wedding that will no doubt be the talk of the town for weeks to come, Sofia and Joe will need a much-deserved rest. But it sounds like the newlyweds will have to put their honeymoon on hold, as both the actor and actress will be returning to set.

"I'm not going to be able to have of a honeymoon after my wedding, because I'm gonna have to go back to work!" Sofia told Good Morning America.
