After keeping their engagement secret for several months, Liv Tyler has finally revealed how fiancé Dave Gardner popped the question. The Leftovers star has admitted that the proposal was far from glamorous, and happened while she was expecting their son Sailor.
"It was very sweet. I was very surprised. I had no idea! And I didn't look very attractive," Liv told FABLife hosts Chrissy Teigen and Joe Zee. "I was pregnant, and I was like crying and had just come out of the shower, and I was like unpacking."

She added: "It wasn't a very glamorous moment!"
After months of speculation, Liv finally appeared to confirm her engagement in September by posting a close up photo of her engagement ring on Instagram. The 38-year-old has since posted another sweet photo of herself happily showing off her ring, this time as she cosied up with her fiancé Dave.
"Crazy about my man!!!! Sweet sweet daddy, friend, fiancé, thank you!!! Grateful," Liv wrote, adding a number of heart emoticons.
Dave appears equally smitten and often shares photos of their happy family on social media. The couple began dating in summer 2014 and welcomed baby Sailor Gene in February.

Their baby boy counts Dave's close friend David Beckham as his godfather, and Liv has since admitted he was the perfect choice for the role. Speaking on ITV's The Jonathan Ross Show, Liv said: "He is very sweet, he gives very good presents. And he's a real gentleman, he's a very elegant person so very sweet… He loves being a father."
The American actress also spoke about the mix of work and family life, saying: "I'm working and I have the baby, I was filming The Leftovers which is the show that I’ve been working on and about three months after I had him, I had to go right back to work and we originally last season shot in New York which was very convenient for me to be a good mother and be an actress and they relocated us to Austin, Texas so he came with me."
