She's known for her flowing gowns, beaded embellishments and flattering necklines but Jenny Packham surprised fans with her very modern take on her wedding dress. The British designer, who is the go-to favourite for the Duchess of Cambridge, married her long-term partner Matthew Anderson on Saturday.

Jenny shunned the traditional white and opted for a dove grey guipure lace number that featured three-quarter length sleeves and a demure neckline. Naturally, the dress was Jenny's own design, and she paired it with crossover strap heels of the same colour.

The modern bride scooped her hair back, showing off her radiant smile and natural beauty, and accessorised with a pearl headpiece.

Announcing her happy news on Instagram, Jenny captioned a photo: "19.12.15 Mathew and I married! @mo_hydepark photo by @tonjethoresen."

The coveted designer married Matthew, CEO of the couple's company, at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in central London – not far from Jenny's flagship store in Mayfair.

Their love story goes back to when Jenny and Matthew were students. While the bride was training in fashion at St Martins, she met her partner who was studying at Central. They set up their company together and share a home in north London with their two daughters Georgina and Isabella.

Apart from the Duchess of Cambridge, Jenny's clientele could read like a roll call of Hollywood's finest. She has dressed Angelina Jolie, Charlize Theron, Blake Lively and Emily Blunt as well as Kate's younger sister Pippa Middleton, Lily Aldridge and Taylor Swift.

Earlier this year Kim Sears chose to marry Andy Murray in an empire-style wedding dress designed by the British favourite.

Kate has stepped out in various Jenny Packham gowns, from the red carpet to official engagements. Her most notable appearances were leaving the hospital after giving birth to Prince George in 2013 and Princess Charlotte in 2015, both times opting for Jenny Packham creations.

With the royal seal of approval and the Kate effect, it's no wonder that Jenny has a host of women desperate to wear her gowns.
