How will Pippa Middleton's hen party compare to the one she planned for Kate?

July 20, 2016

She announced her engagement to James Matthews this week, and they've already revealed they plan to marry next year, so that means we can start thinking about what to expect from Pippa Middleton's hen party.

Pippa, 32, and hedge fund manager James Matthews – the brother of Made in Chelsea's Spencer – are expected to have one of the biggest weddings of 2017, but will the celebrations leading up to the big day be just as lavish?

Pippa Middleton planned sister Kate's quiet and sophisticated hen party in 2011

Before marrying Prince William in 2011, Pippa's sister Kate had a low key hen night. The event, organised by Pippa, took place at a friend's house and was attended by a small handful of friends and family.

Given that Kate was marrying into royalty it made sense for her 'last night of freedom' to be a quiet and sophisticated one. But it's thought Pippa will also respect her sister's position in the monarchy and avoid anything too raucous.

HELLO! magazine's royal correspondent Emily Nash says: "Pippa has a lot more freedom to choose how she celebrates, but will be mindful of her sister's position and will no doubt want to keep any potential as private and discreet as possible."

Despite this, Pippa undoubtedly likes to have fun and has become something of a socialite since stealing the nation's hearts at Kate's wedding.

Emily adds: "We know that she loves adventure and sport, so she might opt for some kind of activity weekend and could go overseas to ensure the group enjoys sunshine – or even snow. But with her party planning expertise, I'm sure she will make it an event to remember."

While working for her parents' company, Party Pieces, Pippa edited their online magazine Party Times. She also had a 'sport and social' column in The Telegraph, in which she discussed topics such as how to throw the perfect Wimbledon party.
