He became the youngest person to row solo from America to Britain in 2005, and now Oliver Hicks has embarked on a whole new adventure. The 34-year-old explorer who is good friends with Prince William tied the knot with Rose Kingscote, who works for Sir Richard Branson's space programme Virgin Galactic, earlier this month.
Rose chose a beautiful bespoke lace gown by Claire Ashley for the ceremony in Somerset which was attended by many society faces including Princess Charlotte's godfathers James Meade and Thomas Van Straubenzee, who along with Guy Pelly who is a close friend of both William and Harry, formed a 'guard of honour' using rowing oars as the newlyweds left the church in Kingston St Mary.

The oars were a clear nod to Olly's passion for messing around in boats which goes back to his seventh birthday when he was given a small yellow kayak.
The newlyweds have had little time for a honeymoon as next week Olly will be giving a talk on the recent Greenland to Scotland Kayak Challenge which involved "two months of paddling and years of planning" and which he completed in September with fellow explorer George Bullard.
