Sofia Richie may have worn three custom Chanel gowns for her wedding with Elliot Grainge in the South of France, but one of them had a very thoughtful design dedicated to the happy couple.
Lionel Richie's daughter walked down the aisle in a figure-hugging gown that was "more simple" than the one she had originally envisaged, she told Vogue. It featured eye-catching iridescent white sequins, an open back and a criss-cross neckline inspired by Chanel’s fall 2023 collection. On closer inspection, the lacy material had two heart designs – one on the bodice and another on the skirt – facing each other, a motif designed to symbolise the connection between Sofia and Elliot.
But even more hidden was the tribute to her relationship with Elliot, whom she describes as "the man of my dreams," inside her gown. The bride asked Chanel to stitch their initials "S&E" with the date of their wedding into the fabric in blue thread as her 'something blue.' This follows on from the likes of Meghan Markle and Nicola Peltz who similarly chose secret blue tributes inside their wedding dresses.
"I always had this vision of the big princess dress, and going big, but as I got older, I realized that I wanted something a bit more simple," the bride explains. "Maybe ‘simple’ isn’t the right word because my dress definitely is not simple!"

Photos of the fittings for her three wedding outfits reveal the 24-year-old model began her wedding celebrations with a high-necked, long-sleeved beaded column dress with beaded fringing. Sofia said the rehearsal dinner dress felt "like an art piece" and revealed her fears about ruining the delicate features of the gown.
"I’m scared to move because I don’t want to ruin one bead," she said. After saying 'I do' at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, Sofia swapped her figure-flattering floor-length wedding dress for a classic Chanel mini dress for the afterparty.
As well as a structured bodice, it boasted thick straps, a layered skirt and the Chanel camellia, and she finished off her outfit with low-heeled slingbacks from the same designer – perfect for dancing with her friends and family.
