Olympic skeleton racer Amy Williams, who got engaged to her soldier fiancé Craig Ham after a 12-week romance, has spoken about her latest wedding plans to HELLO! Online. The bride-to-be is preparing for her intimate ceremony that will take place in one year, but revealed that if she could, she would "get married tomorrow"."The wedding plans are going unbelievably, amazingly well," said Amy.
Craig Ham and Amy Williams got engaged after 12 weeks
"We've ticked off so much stuff. We knew Craig was going away for three to five months with work, so we were quite keen to get a lot of things done."
The photographer, the venue, the church, the car, the band, the save the dates and the invitations have all been sorted, and most importantly, Amy's wedding dress.
The Bath-born athlete visited a handful of shops in her local area with her mum and her twin sister, and found "the one" in the quaint Jane Austen city. "I knew what I wanted before and it happened to be in a brilliant shop in Bath – Krystle Brides," said Amy.
"I went through that cutthroat process of trying on dresses – 'Is it this one or that one? No, yes,' – and it was pretty obvious it was perfect when I found it."
Amy Williams said her little niece Chloe would be a flower girl on the day
Amy will be marrying in her local village church, in a ceremony that will be a touching family affair. Her twin sister will play maid of honour, while her four closest friends will be bridesmaids.
"My sister's little girl Chloe will be a flower girl, and my brother's got two little children so they'll be involved in some way," said Amy. "We've become really close with the little ones and we want to be in each other's lives."
As for starting her own family, The Gadget Show presenter, who will make her debut on screens on Monday night, said: "I can't wait to start a family, if I'm lucky to have children. For me it's a bit difficult because I feel like I've just started my career having retired from sport. "I'm aware that I'm about to turn 32 and so time is ticking, but like anything, I'll wait till the time is right. We don't want to have kids straight after we get married but on the other hand, both of us are ready now.
"I'm very keen to keep in the job and so for me it's more important to get my feet established in presenting. When the time's right I'm sure it will become quite obvious."
Amy Williams retired from skeleton racing in 2012 and is now a TV presenter
Much like the nation's reaction to the news that Prince William and Kate are expecting their second royal baby, Amy, who has met the royal couple on various occasions, spoke of her excitement. "I'm really happy for them, it's really lovely news," she said. "They look like such a happy couple together. They're just as you see them – lovely, normal people. They're very polite, they remember your names. They're very 21st century and so you wish them well."
The Gadget Show returns to Channel 5 for its tenth anniversary on Monday at 7pm.
