Ellen Page has tied the knot! The 30-year-old actress has announced her marriage to her girlfriend Emma Portner. Ellen took to Instagram to post photos of the couple kissing in a woodland setting, looking dressed down in jeans, fleeces and trainers. Another picture gave fans a close-up view of the lovebirds' new wedding bands. "Can't believe I get to call this extraordinary woman my wife," the Juno star wrote alongside her photos. Emma, a contemporary dance teacher, echoed her wife's caption, posting: "I get to call this incredible woman MY WIFE! @ellenpage I LOVE YOU!"

The couple went public with their romance six months ago, when they were spotted kissing outside a café in Los Angeles over the summer. It came after Ellen's split from her ex-girlfriend Samantha Thomas, who she dated for a year and a half. Ellen and Samantha were last pictured together in January 2017.

The Hollywood actress famously came out as gay during a Human Rights Campaign event on Valentine's Day in February 2014. Ellen, who was 26 at the time, gave a rousing speech, saying: "I'm here today because I am gay and maybe I can make a difference. I feel a personal obligation and a social responsibility. I also do it selfishly, because I am tired of hiding and I am tired of lying by omission." She continued: "I suffered for years because I was scared to be out. My spirit suffered, my mental health suffered and my relationships suffered. And I'm standing here today, with all of you, on the other side of all that pain."

Ellen called her wife "extraordinary"

Speaking to Diva magazine last year, Ellen revealed she has found her "inner peace". "Everything is different," she said. "From one day to the next [after coming out], I felt a happiness and an inner peace which I hadn't known for years. My life now is overwhelming and I'm glad to be in a position where I can support my community and also help show that you can still play all kinds of roles after you are out. Things are changing fast and the more people who come out will ultimately help put an end to the idea that coming out destroys your career. We have to make that happen."
