Former EastEndersstar Danniella Westbrook seemed happy and healthy this week, back in the UK briefly after spending 21 days at a top US drug rehabilitation centre. The pregnant star flew in to London on Monday to visit her four-year-old son Kai but is scheduled to return to the States this weekend for another month’s stay at the Cottonwood Centre in Arizona.
“She is looking like her old self again,” one friend of the star said. “When Danniella found out she was pregnant, it was almost like a sign to her. This was the incentive she needed to beat her drug addiction.”
“Danniella looks fabulous and the baby is healthy which is most important,” says the actress’ manager Cheryl Barrymore. “We are all keeping our fingers crossed for her continued recovery.”
The 27-year-old soap star, who is said to be back with the father of her unborn child, millionaire Kevin Jenkins, gained notoriety with her 13-year addiction to cocaine, which resulted in her septum being completely destroyed. After several failed attempts to overcome the dependency, including stays at Britain’s Priory clinic, the actress booked into the American centre, which has been used by celebrities including Tara Palmer Tomkinson and Sean Stewart, rocker Rod Stewart’s son.
Danniella is said to be in negotiations with Granada TV for a “fly-on-the-wall” documentary to be shot over nine months, covering her continued rehabilitation as well the birth of her child.
