Harry Potter mastermind JK Rowling looks set to wed 29-year-old Dr Neil Murray, her love of less than a year, while on a romantic holiday in South America. The millionaire author and her seven-year-old daughter Jessica are joining Neil in the hot summer sun in a few weeks, and friends believe she will wed before returning to Britain.
Before the two can tie the knot, Dr Neil – a Harry Potter look alike – must finalise his divorce from university sweetheart and fellow doctor Fiona Duncan. Those close to the couple believe that will soon be resolved.
One friend of the doctor, who recently quit his £32,000-a-year post at St John’s Hospital in West Lothian, commented: “Without giving too much away, we fully expect Neil and Joanne to come back from their travels as man and wife. His divorce is certainly on its way and the people he is closest to at the hospital recently went out to dinner with him.”
Former colleagues are quick to praise his betrothed: “Joanne has been along to a number of functions here and everyone found her to be a very nice person.”
The writer has pocketed £65-million from sales of the phenomenally successful Harry Potter series and is likely to make an even more magical sum when the first big screen adaptation opens in cinemas this November.
JK was previously married to Portuguese journalist Jorge Arantes, the father of her daughter, though the two separated after just one year.
